There is beauty in the expression of art and instruments. You are able to make a life out of things that were once lifeless because of your talented hands and gifted sounds. To represent yourself through art is one thing, but to represent an entire culture is on another level. And so, you may as well get used to being recognized as a legend.

Masino Intaray is a Palawan native who received The Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA), or National Living Treasures Award, in recognition of his prolific works in oral traditions. His hands held the traces of life of the indigenous cultural community of Southern Palawan, strumming the strings and echoing his chants.

Additionally, Intaray mastered both Kulilal and Bagit traditions, wherein each performance is a breath of his culture entwined with nature. He was skilled in basal (gong), while his mouth is a fuel for instruments called aroding (mouth harp) and babarak (ring flute). Aside from that, he is known for being a storyteller, delivering lyrical poems, epic chants, narratives, and their ancestors' myths and origins accompanied by music and rhythms.

As was noted, the 10th of April is marked as the Birth Anniversary of Manlilikha ng Bayan, Masino Intaray. It is a day reserved for the legend whose existence extends the life of the culture of Southern Palawan and has lived ever since.
