The Founding Anniversary of the Philippine Army is commemorated on this day, March 22 in the Philippines.

On December 21, 1935, the Armed Forces of the Philippines(AFP) was founded under the National Defense Act and is considered the military force of the Philippines.

It has been involved in numerous battles, including the continuous Communist struggle in the Philippines, the Moro conflict, and international conflicts alongside other national military forces as part of its contribution to the United Nations.

It consists of three main service branches; the Army, the Air Force, and the Navy (including the Marine Corps). The President of the Philippines is the Commander-in-Chief of the AFP and forms military policy with the Department of National Defense, an executive department acting as the principal organ by which military policy is carried out, while the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines serves as the overall commander and the highest-ranking officer in the AFP.

It is a day to recognize the country’s valiant and fearless military. We can contribute to this day by raising awareness of the Army's good efforts and part with the celebration through visiting some of our historical and national heritage.
