Alumni from Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Lipa who then turned teachers in the institution namely Sir Jerom Labayo and Ma’am Sharmine Martija won in Employees Got Talent (EGT), a competition that welcomed working force under Lipa City’s goverment to showcase what they got.

On 11th of October, the two proved that teachers could offer more and that was by winning second place in the said contest.

In an interview, Sir Labayo explained as to why he and Ma’am Martija joined EGT and that when they were declared as winners said their hardships, efforts, and practices paid off.

“The reason that made us join the competition is to represent and promote the school, the Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Lipa in those kind of events,” Sir Labayo stated.

He thought that not everyone could make it to be part of the contest and be a grand finalist. For him, they even had lapses yet still worth it.

“I think my passion, especially our dedication to be the representative of KLL in that competition brought us the victory. It is important for us to be part of this, to do and give our best in the competition”, he added.

He also mentioned that the purpose of their performance was to recognize and to express gratitude to frontliners including teachers like them.

He further remarked that being part of the competition was already a huge honor and acknowledgment for KLL and the fact that they had the opportunity to represent and to promote the institution was the most important thing to them.

“Yes, yung pagiging part palang ng competition, it’s already a big recognition and appreciation to our institution. Iyon ang importante sa lahat, being part of the event. Through that competition, naipakita ko yung galing namin sa dancing. In that competition kasi, we promote and acknowledge our frontliners na nagbigay kulay at pag asa satin sa gitna ng pandemic. I think that really serves as a recognition for our institution, “ Sir Labayo said.

The contest was to remember 121st anniversary of Civil Service this September.
