Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Lipa, on 5th of October, remembered World Teacher’s Day in a quite different approach---learning facilitators from different colleges imparted  their sentiments regarding the educational system since last school year.

In a series of interviews, a few teachers were asked the questions, “What is it like to have been teaching in this time of pandemic? How is the celebration of World Teacher’s Day? Is there a message you can give to yourself and other teachers to keep on teaching?”

Ma’am Angelika R. Caponpon and Ma’am Maria Cristina Magnaye from the College of Computer Studies (CCS) and Sir Ginner del Rio of College of Communication Arts (CCA) said that the pandemic greatly affected and changed the way of their lifestyles.

“It has been tough years for our teaching profession and it has tested our professionalism and patience,” Sir Jeffrey Metrillo (CCS) added.

When the second question was asked, Ma’am Muriel Comeros and Sir Marco Villaruel from the College of Teacher Education (CTE), Sir Jun-jun B. Gallosa and Ma’am Berlyn Familaran of College of Criminal Justice (CCJ) stated that the celebration was quite simple.

They even expounded on that saying, “...but the gratitude is still there. Gifts are only symbols. Being a true teacher to your students should be present.”

Even those who already spent years in the institution got words to share like Engr. Samson Rosita and Sir Camelo Obviar of CCS, Ma’am Myla Ordona of CTE and Ma’am Glendel V. Lunar of College of Business Administration (CBA). Answers that they came up with were meant to inspire and rooted from their personal experiences in the past.

“I’m facing in front of you less than 3 years and I will be retiring soon. I can only say one thing to you and that is written in the Holy Bible. Train up a child in the way he should go. So when he grows up, he will not depart from it – Proverbs 22:6,” Engr. Rosita remarked.

He recognized the worth of this year’s celebration for educators around the globe. He added that it was his first time to receive such efforts from his students that even made him cry.

There was Ma’am Ordona a.k.a. Ma’am O, the coordinator for education department who stated a piece of advice not only for herself, but also for other teachers to keep on teaching.

“To my teacher self, you can do it! Despite so many things that you’re doing, it is just time management. Your passion and determination as a teacher should not be gone,” Ma’am O said.

CBA had Ma’am Lunar for the interview. For her, teaching profession was a gift from God that should be shared with the students who wanted to learn especially this time of pandemic.

“We continue to learn so this pandemic should not paralyze all of us and be creative in every way so that our students will continue learning,” Ma’am Lunar explained.

Another faculty member of highest academic rank who faced the questions was Sir Camelo Obviar. What he conveyed was specifically dedicated for students. He reminded to strive harder, to do the best and to keep going. With that, he assured to just pursue his goal that was to teach.

“So whatever the hindrances and whatever the situation that you are going to face, you shouldn’t forget the goal of education. To impart the knowledge to the students, so they can have a better life in the future,” Sir Obviar stated.

World Teacher’s Day this year had the theme: Teachers at the heart of education recovery.
