“It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan.”

-Eleanor Roosevelt

Have you ever made a wish? Did they come true? Did you wish for something that you think is impossible to happen?

Did you know that "wish", inspired the creation of Make-A-Wish, discovered its inspiration to Christopher James Greicius?

He is an energetic 7-year-old boy battling leukemia, who wishes to be a police officer. Loved ones came together on April 29, 1980, to help make his biggest dream come true. World Wish Day celebrates the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a charity that grants wishes for children with illnesses around the world. The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded after seven-year-old Chris Greicius, who was suffering from leukemia expressed the desire to become a police officer. Local police officers heard about his wish and decided to make him a police officer for a day.

The world comes together to celebrate the power of wishes, World Wish Day, on April 29th every year. This day was established by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a charitable organization that makes wishes come true for children with critical illnesses. This inspired the founders of Make-A-Wish to grant the wishes of many other children for years to come. World Wish Day is a day to do what you can to help the foundation by donating or volunteering your time. It represents an opportunity to share how wishes make life better for everyone involved and showcase the creativity of wishes.

We are used to making wishes. We always wish to have the things we want to get or achieve. Even on our birthday, before blowing out the candle on our birthday cake, we make a wish first. Wishing for good health, peace, and above all to achieve the personal wish that we want to fulfill. It feels good to be able to make a wish especially if you believe that it will come true and not be denied to you. It feels good to be free to wish even if there is no certainty that our request will be answered.

In conclusion, let us make wishes to embrace diversity, spread love not hate, seek simplicity, show kindness, practice gratitude, be peacemakers, and focus on being better. Wish to be someone who makes the world beautiful. Do not lose hope in wishing about something! To all who make wishes and who make wishes come true--Happy World Wish Day!
